One of my favorite words is “froth”, which is why I think I like this drink so much. Seriously.
Growing up, I had a kid’s cookbook with a recipe for iced vanilla milk. I made it multiple times, and my favorite part was the cold foam at the top of the drink when I poured it out of the blender. I randomly remembered this drink the other day, and wanted to re-create it with coconut milk.
This paleo-fied version is just as yummy and just as frothy! Try it on a hot day and you’ll be glad you did. 🙂 Read more
This post is somewhat my labor of love for you, and somewhat self-indulgent because I LOVE BREAKFAST!
Seriously, breakfast is the best. And if you’re eating a Paleo/whole food diet, you know that cereal or low-fat yogurt for breakfast just won’t cut it.
That being said, here are some GREAT Paleo breakfast recipes from around the web! Some of them are definitely in the treat category, but I think it’s important to have Paleo treat options for special occasions.
For those with an egg or FODMAP sensitivity, I’ve noted which recipes are egg-free or low-FODMAP. I’ve also specified which recipes are AIP-friendly.
I hope you enjoy this list – let me know what you try! Read more
Meet your new favorite cooking companion: The Bare Bones Broth Cookbook! Bone broth pioneers and entrepreneurs, Ryan and Katherine Harvey, have brought you their favorite recipes from the kitchen of the Bare Bones Broth Company. Ryan and Katherine were kind enough to let me peek at the not-yet-released book (and give you a sneak peak at a recipe!) – it really is one of a kind. Read more
My coffee-loving started with frappuccinos from Starbucks. I know, I know – they don’t really count as coffee. But even after graduating to cappuccinos and lattes, I still have a love for the creamy-meets-icy drink!
Here’s my problem – coffee doesn’t seem to like me. I can have it in small amounts, and do better with decaf, but my favorite espresso drinks upset my digestive system and make me overly-wired and nervous. These symptoms seem to be much worse when I’m already in a stressful season of life or lack sleep. I needed a natural, caffeine-free alternative that would still give me the awesome mouth feel and flavor of coffee. Enter roasted dandelion root! Read more
Can you believe we’re coming up on November already?? It’s the time of year for chilly air, family reunions around a table, and AMAZING comfort food!
My FAVORITE Thanksgiving side dish growing up was the “sweet potato soufflé”. When my mom would ask us what dishes we wanted in the Thanksgiving round-up, I always made sure that was included. So when I decided to re-create the dish, I took a look at the recipe…and saw that it calls for TWO CUPS of sugar (some recipes also call for a marshmallow topping)! No wonder I always liked it! 😉 Read more
IT’S ALMOST OCTOBER!!! I get so excited for this month. Probably even more excited than I get for December, which is Christmas AND my birthday month. I love the colors, the smells, the cider, the sweaters, the WEATHER… 🙂 Read more
Sometimes I really crave something tropical – especially now that we’re getting into June. Kansas weather isn’t as bad as what I’m used to from growing up in the South, but we’ve definitely had some hot days here. And with all the wind, it can feel like you’re living in a hair dryer. Read more
Nothing says “summer” to me more than the smell of burgers hot off the grill, ready to be smothered in all sorts of yummy condiments. And though I used to eat my burgers on a bun with a side of french fries, I’ve found that going bun-less and trading regular fries for these homemade sweet potato fries is an awesome switch. The sweetness of these fries goes well with the cinnamon and contrasts nicely with the sea salt, while the smoked paprika makes the flavor a little more interesting! Read more
My Go-to recipes have to fit a certain criteria to make the list. Basically, I need them to be budget-friendly, healthy, yummy, AND easy to whip up! And no, that’s not impossible. Sometimes it just takes a little hunting and experimenting. To save you precious time, I’ve decided to list some of my favorites on the blog! Read more
